Could you please answer these questions in detail?
1. When did you realize that you don't want to die, when it became an important part of your life?
2. When did you first hear about the existence of scientists / advocates of defeating aging, diseases and death? from whom? what was your immediate reaction? was you immediately convinced that it's great, or did you need some time to ponder about it? was you immediately convinced that you also want to be a part of this movement?
3. Do you think the way you first heard about it in question 2 was really important? like, e.g. if you heard about that in some other way you maybe would discard that information? if so, what was special about the way you heard about it?
4. any other details that you might find important about how you became immortality supporter and activist?
My name is Andrei Panferov. I'm a serial tech entrepreneur, and I live in Stockholm, Sweden.
How did you join life extension movement?
I recognised myself as a part of the life extension movement in 2020, when during the COVID 4 people that I new died in one year. My uncle, my mentor, my close friend, and my potential partner. 2 of those people were multi-millionaires, who had all life in front of them. 1 of them was an oncologist, who was looking for a cure of aging. You can read more about him in my essay The Unfinished Sentence.
I was feeling happiness for my life and I realised that I don't want to lose it ever. Luckily, I was reading one of thousands of Misha Batin's posts in Facebook, that convinced me that death is totally not acceptable.
What part of anti-mortality are you focused on?
As an entrepreneur, at first I was thinking on doing classic things — health education marathons, startups or venture funds, but later understood, that a more serious action needs to be taken.
The head transplantation idea became popular, so I made a startup in this field — Dowell.bio that later was founded by Hydra DAO. So far, head transplantation is the fatest approach to a potential win of extra 20-30 years of life. We hope to get ready 7 years, as we've already solved the most fundamental problem - spinal cord fusion. But head transplantations would be enormously hard to scale massively, so I decided to do more pro universal life extension.
Next thing, that I did — Fund Longevity — international rallies for dedicating 1% of government budgets for aging research, together with Linus Petersson, Vladimir Leshko, Nastya Egorova and José Luis Cordeiro. We were doing livestream from the the streets in 16 cities at once, and even Joe Betts-LaCroix, founder of Retro Bio, was supporting us in San Francisco. This idea evolved into doing more policy advocacy pro life extension, as this looks like an important bottleneck that should be addressed. We created Åldrandefonden here in Sweden
My next step - is launching this forum, Antimortality. The motivation, why I'm doing this, you can read in initial posts - Welcome to Antimortality and Why Antimortality Forum Should Not Exist.
Honestly, I would do anything what it takes, to make humanity a civilisation that un-accepts death. I prefer practical moves. Playing golf? Sure. Hunting for transcriptomes of hybernating bears? I'm in. Talking in front of parliament? Yes, sir!
Anything that can make the transition efficient. I hope to take part in creating the political doctrine of immortalism and making it happen.
A bilief that more people here should question
Never think that you can't contribute. Your contribution can be more significant that whole google's and everyone before you. You can fight aging and win. You can fight aging and die, and then it will help others to win. Even if you won't see it yourself, you should wish to be part of building the civilisation that refuses to treat death as something acceptable.
One person, paper, event, or loss that changed you
Mentioned a lot of them before, but I specifically recommend:
How others can help you
If you are looking for the best impact of your money on your life-expectancy - text me to donate for policy advocacy. We want to create a longevity race between countries. For each 1$ you give the policy advocacy has the chance to multiply it 1000x.
What can I help others with
If you're looking for an angle, that can help you to take part in a life extension movement — text me. I'll try to contribute as much as I can.
